Soccer - Benitez eyes massive win
Chelsea boss Rafa Benitez has urged his side to secure a victory at home to fifth-placed Spurs on Wednesday to all but ensure a top-four finish and Champions League football next season. The Blues are 10/11 with bet365 to triumph at Stamford Bridge and move six points clear of Spurs with just two subsequent games to play, with Chelsea desperate to return to Champions League action after winning the trophy last season. A greatly superior goal difference means that a victory would all but secure a top-four spot for the Blues, with Benitez well aware of the importance of the derby clash. "If we can win we will be there, but Tottenham are a good team and it will be a final for the top four," Benitez told the club's official website. "Winning is crucial for us, it's even more important for them. We will try to win because we know it will guarantee a top-four finish."
Rugby Union - Moody: Lions win a must
Former England captain Lewis Moody says that the British & Irish Lions have to win their series in Australia for it to be considered a success. The Lions are 8/11 with bet365 to win the three-match series Down Under, with Moody feeling that the pressure will be on Warren Gatland's touring party. However, Moody has also backed the Lions to win their first three-match series since a 2-1 triumph in South Africa back in 1997. Moody warned: "He (Gatland) has to win. You look back on any Lions tour that have gone in the past, what do you consider a success? We only look at the winning tours, it's as simple as that. "Are we going to win it? Yes we are. We certainly have the players to do so and I think Australia aren't the team that they used to be." The first Test takes place at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Saturday 22nd June.
Soccer - Michu misses key Wigan clash
Wigan Athletic can move out of the Premier League relegation zone with a win at home to Swansea City on Tuesday, and the visitors will be without leading scorer Michu for the game. The Spaniard has scored 17 top-flight goals in his first season in England, but is unlikely to feature again this term due to a hamstring problem. This news will come as a major boost to the Latics, who are 4/5 with bet365 to win the clash at the DW Stadium and move out of the bottom three with just two subsequent games to play. However, Wigan have injury problems of their own, with a groin injury meaning that left-back Maynor Figueroa is unlikely to play again this season, while Jean Beausejour suffered a hamstring problem in the 3-2 win at West Brom at the weekend. Better news comes with Antolin Alcaraz likely to be fit after hamstring trouble of his own to bolster a Latics backline which has not kept a clean sheet in their last five games.
