What is a “Both Teams to Score” bet ?
Both Teams to Score (BTTS - YES/NO) betting is a popular pick for many bettors these days because you don’t need to pick the winner of a match for your bet to be a winner.
The main advantage about Both Teams to Score (BTTS) is that your bets are never over until the final whistle. Unlike with some other markets where you’re down and out because your pick is 3-0 down with 5 minutes to go, you can always have faith that your teams will score at least once. It only takes a second to score a goal.
With Both Teams to Score (BTTS) bets all you need is that to happen, as long as each team in the match finds the back of the net your bet is a winner!
Ex. Last minute goal: Arsenal 2-1 Southampton in English Premier League.
In the 91st minute, Arsenal’s attempts to force the issue bore fruit. As Koscielny lay prone in the penalty area, play carried on, and when Jose Fonte grappled with Giroud, referee Bobby Madley pointed magisterially at the penalty spot. Santi Cazorla scored in the last minute from the penalty spot.
It seems relatively obvious, but for a Both Teams to Score (BTTS) to be a winner the away team must score at least once.
Scoring for Away teams is normally more difficult than scoring for Home teams.
Find those matches where the AWAY team scores consistently.
Statistically, there are an average of 2 to 3 goals in a football match and both teams will often share the goals. The sheer number of these games in which both teams scores means that this can be an appealing bet, even if pinpointing which games will see both teams score can be tricky.
Tips for BTTS - YES method:
- Pick teams that are both scoring and conceding plenty of goals.
- Check out previous fixtures between the two teams.
- Pick strong against weak teams (particularly when the stronger team is playing away).
- Pick weak against weak teams.
- Avoid picking strong vs. strong teams.
- Check out overall both teams to score percentages for the chosen teams.
- Check out relative home and away both teams to score stats for the teams.
- Place your BTTS pick in a single bet coupon, it’s always wise!
You can also go for a Both Teams to Score (BTTS) - NO bet, where your choice is to place a bet on each team in the match not to find the back of the net, which is also a popular pick for many bettors .
